Daniel Maté
Daniel Maté is an award-winning musical theatre songwriter whose work has appeared on stages on several continents. His original musicals include The Trouble With Doug (Fredericia Teater, Denmark, 2017), Hansel & Gretl & Heidi & Günter (World Premiere: Village Theatre, Seattle, Spring 2020), Middle School Mysteries, and The Longing and the Short of It. Daniel received the prestigious Edward Kleban Award for outstanding musical theatre lyrics in 2013. With his father Gabor, Daniel is currently cowriting two books, including one based on the Hello Again workshop. Gabor Maté (pronunciation: GAH-bor MAH-tay) is a retired physician who, after 20 years of family practice and palliative care experience, worked for over a decade in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side with patients challenged by drug addiction and mental illness. The bestselling author of four books published in twenty-five languages, Gabor is an internationally renowned speaker highly sought after for his expertise on addiction, trauma, childhood development, and the relationship of stress and illness. His book on addiction received the Hubert Evans Prize for literary non-fiction.
