Susan Paley

Susan Paley is a builder. Over the past 20 years Susan has brought some of the most innovative, disruptive consumer technology products to market for global lifestyle brands such as Beats by Dr. Dre, Harman/JBL, GM, Chrysler, Fiat, VW, HP, Quiksilver/Roxy, Nickelodeon and Universal Music Group. Launching new businesses, developing new product categories and transforming existing businesses through innovation is her passion.

Building businesses from the ground up requires both a local and global perspective. From structuring a company’s operations to overseeing the strategic development, sales and marketing of its product(s) my goal is to accelerate market impact. As the first employee and CEO of Beats By Dr. Dre, she strategically and operationally guided all aspects of the company's unparalleled growth, making it the #1 headphone globally and the fastest growing brand in CE. At Harman International she developed new markets for their global consumer products brands, creating a partnership with youth lifestyle leader Quicksilver Inc., driving $40M of annualized growth.
Currently, Susan sits on several boards, advising early-stage companies and global brands to drive innovation and growth in their organizations.

A New Paradigm of Leadership –What is Needed Now and in the Future

Leading during times of unprecented change and upheaval is challenging leaders from every imaginable field.

An increasing remote work force puts additional strain on organizations. Leaders of both small business and large organizations are being challenged on a multitude of fronts.

As always, with change and upheaval comes opportunity.

This presentation will look at leadership principals required to effectively lead organizations now and in the future.

The role of EQ

  • How does the concept of leadership change from Gen Y and Gen Z?

We will look at generational cohort research to how different generations view leadership, their roles in organizations and their view of the nature of work.

  • How does the changing face of leadership (leaders are increasingly representative of prior underrepresented groups) change the nature of it?

This presentation will also look at research done by google and others on the nature of teams and to effectively create and lead teams to desired outcomes.
